Hahoetal, or Hahoe Masks, is a multi-movement piece based on the masks used in the “Hahoe special ritual drama to the gods” (Hahoe byeolsingut talnori). This piece was inspired by a display of nine of the Hahoe masks (shown on the right) which I picked up at the Butler School of Music. The first nine movements are an interpretation of each character based on my research of their original roles. The final two movements bring all the motives together through a story and recap.
